For over a month now, I’ve been in training for the Bluegrass 10K on July 3. I’m doing it to raise money for Compassion International’s Child Survival Program.
We’ve had an unusually snowy winter here. But, you know, neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor dark of night will keep this woman from plodding along her training program.
Since my friend’s Karen, Kristi and I started this project, we’ve had 12 people decide to join us in running for Compassion International’s Child Survival Program! We’ve upped our fundraising goal from $1000 to $3000. And we truly have become “Team Compassion.”
And every team needs a little friendly, motivating competition.
From now until St. Patrick’s Day, Team Compassion is having a fundraising challenge: which ever team member gets the most people to make a donation in their name toward our fundraising goal will receive a $10 gift certificate to a local coffee shop. We’re also running the Shamrock Shuffle 3K on March 13 as a training race.
If you’re like my friend Nancy and want to “be all republican about this,” you are more than welcome to wait to donate until I post pictures of myself huffing and puffing across the finish line. In the mean time, it would be really motivating if you’d leave a comment here saying that you’re planning on making a donation if I do complete the 3K.
If you don’t want to do it for mothers and babies, do it so I can buy my frozen gym-bound self a cup of coffee! :)
